A Color without color!

Look 2:
White has some magic to it and it becomes more than evident in summers. I love colors and while Rainbow is my favorite (pun intended), the absence of any in White is equally intriguing and maybe that's why I din't think twice while spending on this White maxi, even when I own about 10 already. Believe me, not buying something as pretty as this is a bad omen! Nothing haunts you more than the things you didn't buy. I was saving myself from the guaranteed haunted nights this maxi would have given me later.

OK, back to the looks, the dress is pretty on its own so I kept that in my mind while deciding what route to take to style it. There were just too many ideas and I had a hard time settling down to just one, just two, just 5..arrggh!!! So, after spending a few good hours in front of the mirror and next few taking worthless selfies lying in a pile of clothes, I finally chose to create two different looks. First look is something that I would love to wear to a day function. A bit of exaggeration with a bit of royalty. Oxidized jewelry blends well with White and its so easy on eyes. The second look is a fuss-free look with just a colorful beaded necklace  for a sun-downer by a poolside or for a barefoot walk on a beach. Now this reminds me of one of my favorite scenes from Sex and the city 2, where SJP (Carrie Bradshaw) walked on a beach in Abu Dhabi, all by herself. That was a sad moment for Carrie, but, not for SJP or for any of us. Don't ask me why! Its not everyday that we are left in an eternal awe of a dress. How could one get over that breathtakingly beautiful Halston Heritage Orange pleated maxi she was wearing and need I mention the way she had to (more than) occasionally lift it just to be able to walk. Our jaws dropped, mine never got lifted back cause I watch that scene on loop.

Take-away : Never get your Maxi hemmed to fit your length, put your hands to some good use, lift it..duh!

Neon power!

The summer means freedom to wear colors, even those colors you thought aren't for you. Instead of wasting time thinking if a certain color be any good on your skin tone, just take the plunge and regret it later. 'Ok, remind me again, Why didn't I try these colors before?', That's the right question. Well, better late than never, good news is that you are still breathing and from the looks of it, summer isn't getting over any time soon either! Its time you gave a fair trial to all the colors you have been lusting after for so long. Believe me you, there is absolutely nothing that's not for you.

Co-ords/matchy sets are a must try this summer. Matching pieces give an illusion of a taller, leaner you and who doesn't want that. The look is perfect on my short frame. The color is so eye catchy and vibrant that it is sure to turn heads. Just remember this style looks cute with minimal accessories so let the color take the lead. The striped bow on the hat was enough to break the monotony of the outfit.

Be quirky, be flawed, be a person!

What sets us apart is our quirkiness. So, embracing it is just the beginning, what do we do with it, is just a matter of our self-belief. For now, I'll give you a piece of me with this look. Got inspired for this look on a day when my husband asked me what would I want for my 30th birthday (which is still way ahead, but, my husband loves to plan ahead and loves to shelve them to, way ahead of time). 'Baby, lets drive down to a colder place', was more like the expected answer, but, I wasn't thinking like someone in her 20s (Noooo, not even like someone in her 30s either, atleast not yet, there's still time for that). I was more like a teenage girl who just wanted some adventure and said 'Baby, lets drive down to Banaras, a road trip, just the two of us ( ya ya, its not a romantic destination, but, its not our anniversary either, duh!). I know roaming around in the hot, blistering sun, growing 13 (? coz I hate 13) shades darker is not my thing, but, so isn't turning 30. My husband wasn't intrigued, not that he wasn't interested or excited, just not shocked. And that's when I realized that he expects me to do the unexpected. I am like no one else. In his words I make rules only to break them later for my own convenience. So, here's a big thumbs up to breaking rules!

Back to the look, this is a halter neck printed cotton maxi dress. Just perfect for a summer afternoon( even more perfect for a beach). And whats not to like about the dress, everything is just tailor-made for summer, the color, the design, the print and especially the length. I teamed it up with a short Nehru collared jacket. Gladiator style flats, reflectors, a khadi  sling pouch and an arm cuff added to the quirkiness of the look.

Something old, something new, something recycled!

Ruffles and high neck, OK, stop right there! I am sold! The chiffon blouse is the center piece of this look and you know why. It is so chic and classy that I want to wear it with everything. But, this pink skirt got lucky and beat every other bottom in my closet to team up with it. I just love how pink and white compliment each other.

To tell you the truth, this skirt wasn't even a skirt, it was an anarkali suit made out of my mum's almost 25 yrs old tissue saree. She was throwing it away when I claimed deep interest in it and she was like 'Just take it away but don't bother investing too much in it, it won't hold the stitch and (blah blah)'. I paid no heave to her very experienced talk cause honey, heart wants what it wants. I took the leap of faith and went ahead to prove her wrong and got a beautiful anarkali suit stitched out of it with a very intricate broad lace on the border (which took me next few days to hunt down and yep, a good amount of money too). Abused it till I got bored of it (or may be till I recovered my investment). However, it wasn't reason enough to let go if it just yet, the lace got me drooling everytime I saw it in my trunk just collecting dust (or whatever clothes collect when they are locked away). Eureka( not really! ) but, still something. I got it re-recycled to what it is now, a full flare midi skirt, yay!

I love to keep jewellery to a minimum in summers and this look is no exception. Just a few rings, a coin pouch and a pair of earrings were more than enough to make me look like a princess ( lost in time).
